a hard road to healing, vision, and leadership

Welcome to the Story of an Aboriginal Woman, Leadership and the Courage and Compassion to Survive.
"My Name is Shield Woman"  provides information on a book co-authored by Ruth Scalp Lock with Jim Pritchard.

Ruth, a Blackfoot woman, her mother Cree, tells her story. This is an important story for our time, one of personal and cultural loss, and the process of healing. Heartfelt, humourous, and inspiring, Ruth shares her often gritty story, the strength of her spirit, and the spirit of her People.

With a true compassion for others, she reaches out her hand to help them find their healing road.

This is a story of one woman, and for all people – the story of Awo Taanaakii, Shield Woman.
